Cooked

2025

★★ Watched

It attempts to depict the chaos of a restaurant through a single-take approach but one of its biggest failure is the lack of attention to the food itself. Unlike successful examples such as The Bear, Chef and Burnt where both the kitchen dynamics and the dishes are showcased beautifully, Umami keeps the camera focused on countertops or character close-ups. This choice weakens the film’s authenticity and gives the impression that the production wasn’t fully prepared to handle the culinary aspect.…

Babygirl

2024

★★★ Rewatched

Harris Dickinson's facial expression after saying "Why, do you want one?" can't just be acting. I know that person for real 😅 he's literally killing it in that scene. Other than that, it's a movie that starts strong but ends up sooo..oo mediocre. Nicole Kidman still makes it watchable since she's the most beautiful woman in the world, but Harris Dickinson carries the entire film on his shoulders.

Masterpiece. It's as aesthetic as an art movie, as stunning as a crime movie, as exciting as a thriller. The emotions it made me feel, the scenario, the references that the movie made within itself were enormous. Cate Blanchett has played the role of her life. Hopefully, Oscars are on the way.

The Menu

2022

★★ Rewatched

When you don't take The Menu seriously, which I think movie doesn't take itself seriously either, it's fun. However we got enough of watching upper class people's vulnerabilities in other series/movies such as Succession or Triangle of Sadness. The screenplay and character depth in similar movies can not be found in this film. Most importantly, the viewing experience becomes dull as we learn where the movie is heading at the beginning of it. I expected a smart plot twist until the last minute, but unfortunately I was dissapointed. Still, it's great pleasure to watch Ralph Fiennes and Anna Taylor-Joy together.
