I feel at odds with this movie. I love a lot of what Dan Mindel is doing here and his experience from working on Tony Scott movies really comes through here (but is actively undermined by Abrams' direction). Such a punchy and textured image. Ethan Hunt feels like an actual character maybe for the first time in the series and this movie establishes the formula that future movies would build on moving forward in many ways. Where do I start? Let's get this out of the way; Cowboy Bebop is a damn cool show. Everything about it, from the aesthetic and music, to Spike's demeanor and stylish montages, feels cool.

The show doesn't rely on a long, overarching storyline for the most part. Every episode features an adventure unrelated to the previous one. These episodes might come off as...inconsequential? Insignificant? For the…
