After liking (but not loving) X, I am shocked to say I adored this. Based on the trailer and the first 20 minutes, I honestly wasn't sure how I would feel about Skinamarink. But after that first act, something shifted. I watched the film alone with the lights off, which helped me to immerse myself in the experience, and depite the fact that this is largely shots of household items and liminal spaces with grain overlay, a number of scenes genuinely scared me more than any horror film I've ever scene.
