I like the first Dune quite a bit but this completely blew it out of the water. The characters are more fleshed out, it's funnier and the action left me breathless quite a few times. The performances are all great my favorite was probably Javier Bardem who was unbelievably charming. Zendaya actually gets a character here and she's great, if looks could kill was a person Zendaya would be that. Austin Butler is fun but not nearly in it enough and I think the hype for his performance was over hyped he's nowhere near Heath Ledger as the Joker. My man Timothee Chalamet was fucking FANTASTIC, he has a lot more to do in this and he easily takes everything on, a powerhouse performance I loved every single second he was on screen. There was a point where I thought to myself if they stick the landing this will get a rare 5/5 from me. The ending is no doubt powerful but it wasn't quite as conclusive as I thought it would be, if this ends up being the last movie (doubt it) I think i'll knock a few points off but I desperately need the next movie. I will be very shocked if this doesn't end up making my top ten of 2024.
