waiting to see this until after my finals were over made it all the more sweeter. incredible movie. what an experience. if there was ever a movie more deserving of the tag styling and profiling this is it

god i love film procedurals. couldn’t take my eyes off of this movie. political thrillers (especially ones based in fact and real life such as this one) will never fail to grab my attention, present political circumstances certainly playing a factor

you know how people say things like “we are living through hard times” or “we have a rough ___ years ahead of us”. i see movies like this and think when was there ever any good times. this mindset is certainly tempered by the fact that im still young and seem to be living through a particular rough historical patch of time, but damn watching this movie was just a constant reminder of how virtually nothing has changed except how we consume media (and that got much worse).

this movie was one of the major ones on my list of never before seen famous movies, and after some college plans fell through as they like to, i decided to sit in my living room and finally watch this one. 

WHAT THE FUCK MAN. GOD DAMN THIS SHIT WAS BRUTAL. but it was simultaneously one of the best and most engrossing movies i have seen in a very very long time (harakiri rewatch excluded). holy shit man. and that story flowed so well i barely noticed any run time at all

pure villain on villain plots with a witty script so razor sharp the words cut if you get in a 5ft radius. pure scums of the earth on both sides. i miss when dialogue was this sharp as the norm

this was a fun gangster romp with a bunch of twists and turns and double crosses with a whole lot of real sharp wit surrounding it. pretty good. reminds me of yojimbo like some reviews said

holy fuck. i don’t really know much else to say other than you could just feel the distaste kubrick has for the military as my friend andrew says. watched in a double feature with paths of glory for a anti war double

oh my god man. genuine life changing cinema. the imax screen set my soul on fire. more words cannot describe the impact this has had on me watching it in the most special of ways. happy anniversary interstellar. my soul is on fire

might go down with time but for now this is is. so fun, so lively, so funny, so dark, so anxious, so ionate, and holy fuck so depressing. that ending left me stunned. this was incredible in a way i didn’t think movies this year could be (other than dune 2). this and challengers shocked me. ouch man. it was such a fun time until it wasn’t. also the final scene sort of reminded me of this painting of ivan the terrible. it was the eyes that spoke to me

the past 8 weeks of watching this show have been some of the most entertaining and enjoyable prestige tv i have ever seen. every week had me locked in beyond belief at the edge of my seat without fail. also holy fuck sofia falcone/gigante was and incredible antagonist for the show and oz. i don’t know any other glazing words to use for her at the moment but she was THE presence on the show by and large.
