god… what a fantastical, lovely story. the worldbuilding was so magical and i’m in love with the soft focus in which this was shot. so heartwarming and sweet yet so so heartbreaking, i cried watching that ending. made me miss my dad so much and i gasped when i heard man of the hour. i loved it </3 tim burton’s best tbh

i’m sitting here conflicted because i don’t really know what to say. i just think that despite the fact that false accusations (though rare) can ruin lives, it’s always always right to believe the children, the victims, first. the film did a great job portraying the fragility of perception and its consequences.

onto the movie itself, i don’t believe that klara had any malicious intentions. she was just confused, hurt and mimicking language she didn’t understand. the bigger question, however, was how did she even know what to say? it’s so obvious that she was exposed to adult material and it’s just so so tragic that the adults in her life failed to shield her from it. easy to blame her for ruining a man’s life but what about the neglect, the confusion and the social failure she experienced? 

the tragedy is that everyone fails. there’s no scene where lucas is vindicated through some big revelation proving him innocent. there’s no cathartic resolution. the absence of any kind of closure is devastating and i get that it’s intentional, i get that the film tries so hard to showcase that truth doesn’t erase suspicion. that ppl act based on fear not evidence and that’s not something easy to unlearn. but god damn does it make my heart hurt for lucas. the final scene is so chilling, it reminds us that belief has always been stronger than the truth and that he’s permanently tainted and nothing will ever change that. 

and mads oh my god what a great performance. tugged at my heartstrings, this one’s going to sit w me for a very very long time.

first post endgame marvel movie i watched in theaters and i’m so fucking glad i did. good plot good humor great characters what’s not to love. always knew marvel had it in them 😭✌️ that second post credit scene made me SO excited for what’s to come i can’t wait for fantastic four at all
