So many movies, so little time!

Letterboxd Season Challenge 2019-20
Week 1: Past Hosts Week
What a wonderful start of this year's Letterboxd Season Challenge! This has been on my watchlist for ages! And now that I have finally seen it, I can say this: Even though there are still 32 weeks to go and 32 films to watch for this challenge, I doubt that I am going to watch a movie that I will like more than "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind". I love how Tsukamoto gets his message across in the most focussed way possible. "Killing" is completely decluttered, no unnecessary side characters, no wasted shots, no fillers, just a handful of characters, one location and a focused script and Tsukamotos reliable direction. It's pure and straightforward with a strong vision and a clear message, but at the same time not too simple to be boring and leaving enough room for interpretation. It's such a treat! I loved it! Tsukamoto proves to be one the most unique and visionary directors working at the moment. Looking forward to his next projects.
