unfunny guy who likes movies

Almost as if Lynch let a classic American sitcom live past its expiry date, as its characters find themselves exploring and coming to with the reality of their idealistic neighbourhood, discovering the underbelly which exists parallel to the utopia, their ‘All American’ innocence slowly disintegrating and replaced by a far more solemn pessimism. Yet, the Robins still came, and all is well.
Some really subpar character work and truly horrendous pacing on display here. You’re never really given any reason to care for these characters at all, and the film doesn’t develop them in any meaningful way either. Still a visually gorgeous looking picture though, and I’d be lying if I said that Andor’s series finale didn’t increase my enjoyment of this. Those last 15 minutes were electric.

To talk about the Munich Massacre whilst completely ignoring the context of Israel’s occupation of Palestine is absolutely ludicrous. I can see the picture’s attempt to take an approach similar to Alex Garland’s ‘Civil War’ when tackling this subject matter, specifically with the reluctance to acknowledge anything even remotely political, but it comes off as pathetic at best, and propaganda-like at worst.
