Delightful first act that led into what I can only consider a failed, one-dimensional hero's journey, which effectively lacked *all* of the substance and depth of the messianic tale of the novel. Denis's portrayal of the Fremen faith feels like he didn't truly understand what he was reading, and simply interpreted Paul's journey as an orientalist revenge plot colored by prophecy. Incredible cinematography and acting, but unfortunately it's impossible to adapt a political, theological and philosophical treatise.
