I was kinda skeptical before watching Sunshine as the movie’s lenght is quite long.
I was pleasantly surprised by how the movie was smoothly executed. Everything, and I am not exagerated saying this, was perfect : the plot, the costumes, the characters, the emotions, the settings…
I can’t believe this movie was trully 3 hours long. Just wow.
This is what in French we would call a ‘chef d’œuvre’ !

Pour ma part j’ai été très déçue. Je trouvais le découpage des parties pertinent malgré que l’événement qui segmente les parties soit du vu et revu. La construction du plot laissait très clairement entrevoir le plot twist si on peut appeler ça un plot twist. Je ne sais pas si l’utilisation des bruits de bouche/d’animaux était une inspiration libre de Hereditary mais personnellement ça m’a pas mal refroidi. En connaissant le film on pouvait tout preshot dès les premières scènes. Ça coupe donc l’envie de le voir en entier vu qu’il n’y aucune surprise qui nous attend. Le côté « bizarre » du film m’a laissé sur ma faim, je trouvais ça même basique pour un film qui repose sur un deuil. Le fait de laisser apparaître la sœur « maléfique » pour démontrer l’étape du déni m’a largement fait penser au film The Sixth Sense (je ne sais pas si je suis la seule à avoir la vision mais oklm mdr). D’ailleurs c’est plutôt dommage de se centrer que sur une seule étape du deuil. Montrer d’autres étapes aurait pu être intéressant notamment du fait que la relation entre les deux sœurs était profondément malsaine. La voir se confondre entre illusions et réalité m’a pas mal fait penser au short movie « quand j’ai remplacé Camille » du fait que July voyait en September ce qu’elle rêvait d’être mais aussi une sorte de « concurrence ou d’idéal » la poussant dans ses retranchements.
Je pense qu’il aurait fallu un meilleur background. Pourquoi pas des flashbacks sur leur enfance pour complexifier leur relation et l’histoire qui se rattachent à elle. Il est aussi dommage de ne pas avoir explorer la relation avec leur mère tout comme le personne de la mère. Nous ne savons rien d’elle pratiquement, son personnage est vide. J’aurai aussi voulu y voir davantage de références au père et aux grands-parents.
Pour finir sur une note positive, le jeu des actrices principales était pour le coup chouette !

Life shouldn’t be hard like this. I was already so angry at the world and those crazy leaders but I am even more now.
The documentary filmmaking is impressive for something made of simple footages. I was not ready to see something that well made since the purpose of this documentary isn’t showing beautiful images but the hard truth about what is happening in the West Bank.
This is a must watch.

This is ok. Everything about this movie isn’t new. The plot was good but too predictable. I liked how the acting of the lead actresses.
I think this movie needed more background to understand and convolute the relationship between the two sisters.
The little mouth sounds were totally inspired from Hereditary. I hate those. Can we please stop this. This is nor funny nor terrifying. It made me just want to throw up and it actually reveals the “plot twist” from the start (we are not idiots guys).
