Peter Rabbit

2018

★★½ Watched

Finished the bank holiday off with this average and at times irritating offering.

The voice cast is surprisingly weak and the film is inundated with crude attempts at modernising a classic British franchise. Even for body horror this is pretty insane and out there. It's a real triumph of the genre, and on a technical level with the prosphetics and makeup. It almost feels like Fargeat has taken the subgenre to its absolute limits.

The Substance is horrifying, grotesque and down right disgusting. But also clever and topical. The script is exceptional, as is the delivery. If only the ending felt more satisfying.

That ending goes real hard and repulses. I genuinely just…
