They took memento’s concept and turned it into an extremely emotional story. The love relation between both of the main characters was really heartwarming. That’s why the film had a really good moral and message. I saw it back when it was released and now after so many years wanted to rewatch it and man I still go gripped by the story. Tho execution was not extraordinarily. Some mistakes were really visible without much focusing but it its still a solid film for me. 
(I haven't seen the first Tamil version tho but heard it’s exactly the same as this)
