Julianne Moore Nicole Kidmanned better than Nicole Kidman, honestly. A lot of good ideas here and solid acting but a lot was a bore and trying too hard to be White Lotus. Some scenes a bit too sophomoric for my taste, but still the best thing I have seen on Netflix in a while.

]]>What a ride. Absolutely watching that again.
]]>You know, I don’t really think yall understand Cronenberg to be real. I truly can’t understand why Letterboxd dislikes the man. YET ANOTHER CRONENBERG EXCELLENCE. Fuck! Wildly inventive and wonderfully humorous. So many nods to Videodrome and even that one scene where he puts on the shroud and nods to his NFT (The Death of David Cronenberg)…felt like I was pulling the Leo meme of him pointing at the TV the entire time. VINCENT HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER HOLY SHIT I WAS DROOLING. Feel like Cronenberg intentionally was trying to make him look like himself since this was an homage to the loss of his wife himself? But what was the accent he was trying to achieve??
]]>THIS FILM WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART!!!! Requiem for the indie brand. So incredibly raw, unnerving, and powerful. Always a sucker for any work of art evoking a visceral reaction out of me. Wanted to close my eyes at points but couldn’t because of how captivating these lead actors performances were…It’ll make you sick, it’ll make you cry, and it’ll even (at times) make you laugh. What was achieved in this work is no longer ubiquitous in today’s age of storytelling and filmmaking. In awe at how much heart and soul was put into this work. Jonathan, if you are reading this, I am so fucking proud of you. Can’t wait to watch it again at the NYC premiere.

]]>I’m not the sum of my parts.
This family is messed up. Philip Seymour Hoffman is a god damn FORCE in this. The world did not deserve him. Though the non linear timeline made me dizzy, I absolutely loved this story and cast. Definitely see some influence from The Killing here which Kubrick fans will appreciate. Poignant, powerful, and devastating. Bravo
]]>Sometimes you want a good, bad movie. But this was just a bad, bad movie. The casting director is a wizard for getting these A-list actors to agree to this garbage.

]]>Forever rewatchable in my books. Michael’s swift character development is absolutely gripping. Fuck, he is terrifying. I always feel like I focus on something different about this film every time I watch it. This time around, it was the Italian cultural aspects of family roles and dynamics. Mama Corleone’s voluntary blindness and disregard for what’s unfolding, Michael’s sudden, forced-turned enthralling-turned (eventual) resentment of what he must endure as the new head of the crime syndicate, Kay’s similar voluntary blindness and sense of outsider mentality of a culture outside of her own, similarly consigliere’s acceptance that he could never be “one of them” due to his heritage and humble acceptance at that - just powerful. I could go on and on. The only reason I haven’t given this 5 stars is the comparison to part II.

Me most of the movie: More gay Ghibli films please
Me after the movie: Pause
Damn.. kinda made me think I was gay. I need to meditate on that.

]]>Alright, I’ll bump it up half a star. Ending is still a mess, but I will say that sound design and the overall sequence editing and camera angles are bang on. Original review thoughts still maintained, but I did have a newfound appreciation for the way this was produced. Rewatch movies til I die.
]]>Timothee Chalamet killed this role. Ed Norton was a delight. Monica Barbaro’s voice, though no Joan Baez, was still absolutely captivating. As for what I actually learned about Bob Dylan from this? The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind.
]]>Part of my Gene Hackman marathon, rest in peace. It’s hard not to fall in love with this film. Wes can make profound sadness and tragedy seem so light and frivolous when compared to the comfort of human connection and the beauty of life before your eyes. Shed a little tear this time around.
]]>What’s with all these style over substance movies in the game right now? Expected so much more from this screening. Where’s the balance between production quality and substance? This felt hollow and the pacing is dreadfully slow. Pretentious rather than profound.

A movie that’s as much about curiosity and control as it is about identity and freedom. What makes The Truman Show so powerful is the way it balances its philosophical questions with real emotional weight. It asks: What happens when the world you trust is built on deception? How far would you go to discover the truth — even if it destroys everything you know? Known at the time for his over-the-top comedic roles, Carrey brings a vulnerability and nuance here that makes Truman’s journey incredibly moving.
The film’s visual style adds to the eerie sense of surveillance, with many shots framed as though from hidden cameras. The bright, artificial perfection of Seahaven contrasts sharply with the underlying darkness of its concept — a man’s entire life manipulated for entertainment. I definitely thought more of this film when I watched it as a teenager, it’s not as profound now. That being said The Truman Show remains just as relevant today, if not more so. In an era of constant content and blurred lines between reality and entertainment, Truman’s struggle feels like a warning — and a reminder of the importance of choosing authenticity over comfort.
And as for how it ends? Let’s just say it’s as satisfying and hopeful as it is bittersweet.
]]>Hell yeah. Some of the first records I ever collected when I was 13 were Led Zeppelin, so this hit home. So interesting to learn about their backgrounds and unexpected influences, though it makes a lot of sense now. Lads were legends that just really wanted to play music. Determined, well-versed, respectful of one another and damn good. Gotta get the Led out every once in a while.
Jimmy Page I am obsessed with you.
]]>Absolutely CI-NE-MA. What a ride. Whoever was in charge of transition sequences, thank you. Fucking hell. I need time. I’ll write a real review soon. I’m floored.
