I was very meh on the first Dune, being wowed really only by the visuals. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t skeptical coming in to this given how things went with me and both Avatars, and I felt the same could happen here. Boy what a stupid idiot I was. 

While the visuals are once again stunning, Dune: Part Two feels like an exceptional improvement over the first. There’s the obvious uptick in action spectacle, but this time around the story feels more emotional and personal, and the performances from the whole cast really sell it (extra praise to Javier Bardem). I suppose this makes up for having to sacrifice Mickey 17 to the release void. 

Guess I’m riding the Dune Buggy now. Hail the Worm.
