Thoughts on the symbolism of names in Dune: Part Two: 

Political power (Atreides) & religious fanaticism (Muad’dib) are the two pillars (usul) that can destroy an empire and build a new one.

But they also destroy the person, his emotional desires and ideals - they destroy Paul and create the lifeless messiah who will soon loose control.
