Transmorphers

2007

Not the total train wreck everyone makes it out to be. Sure, it’s bad - especially the computer effects are laughable and the acting leaves much to be desired - but when you forget for a second that this is a mockbuster trying to capitalize on Transformers’ success (the plot is actually more similar to Terminator: Salvation) it appears more like a low budget ion project. The set-pieces actually look pretty okay, the score is generic but effective and the actors - even if not very good - absolutely give it their all.

Batman & Robin

1997

★★ Rewatched

I rewatched Tusk yesterday, yet I think Batman & Robin might be even more bizarre. When our protagonist, a small-time crook and thief trying to live an honest life, gets mixed up with this soldier…

One of the biggest cinematic disappointments I've ever experienced in my life. With an average rating of 4.0 I thought it'd be a safe bet that I like this movie, but the reality couldn't be further away from that.

About 23 minutes in I wished it would end, but it just kept going on for what felt like an eternity. The set-pieces and costumes look like a one-to-one copy from 1984 and the like. The first half of the movie…
