Annihilation movie stole under the skin’s nachos
]]>First two acts were perfect. Last act snooze fest.
Submarine stunt probably my favourite action set piece ever.
]]>Looney toons movie.
Can’t say I liked it, but i can’t say I didn’t either.
]]>Banger alert
]]>Okay because this is better then the first I can it 72% of my love for the first one was for the lol but this is actually so fucking funny and a movie I would feel confident getting people to watch instead of forcing people to watch like some sick personality litmus test like I did with the first.
]]>Cannot the last time I watched a marvel movie not even sure what compelled me to watch this one. The a24 bait advertising prob worked. Actually really good???
Really funny and the design of the void/his powers were cool as fuck.
]]>Quite good! No notes.
]]>Not very interesting, not very tense, not very funny, not very visually appealing either.
]]>Genuinely not nearly as bad as everyone was making it out to be. Super solid children’s movie, did annoy me it didn’t apply literally any conventions of the game but also like who fucking cares.
Elite cinema experience both adults and children alike having such a good time, lots of laughs and cheering. Lots of fun!
]]>Absolute muck.
Uncreative, uninteresting, edginess trying and failing to come across as interesting or having anything to say.
]]>I need to watch a serious movie soon.
]]>This is like if someone took a nytol and sudofed and was instructed to write a script on climate change.
Sort of impressive how the human mind could have ever comprehended to string these scenes together, get it financed and turn it into a movie.
]]>lol
]]>On rewatch I actually think I sort of quite like this movie?
The visuals and score are 10/10 beautiful.
I didn't like the crew first watch but actually find them to be quite fun/dynamic particularly compared to Prometheus.
David and Walter fucking awesome. Loved Romulus but I do really hope we get some direct sequel/ answers to this movie.
Jussie Smolett being in this and also being terrible threw me I completely forgot about that lol.
]]>I've never been one to shy away from acknowledging this movie is actually just not very good but it's the first time I've rewatched it in ages and Jesus fucking christ.
Outside of the obvious I think my biggest gripe is them trying to sell Elizabeth and Charlie as a couple in love/having anything to talk about/who enjoy each others company.
Charlize Theron 10, extra points for her cunty space Uggs.
DIY Alien abortion will always be awesome.
David still best character in cinema, but also maybe I prefer Alien: Covenant which is also an equally poor movie so idk gonna rewatch now.
]]>The hypothetical version of this movie that is good is so awesome.
]]>Classic
]]>This is acc five starts idk why I have it 4 before. Usually watch subbed but watched the dub this time Liam Neeson was horrible but Cate Blanchette was awesome. Literally just so so cute. Love.
]]>Love how this movie looked but plot didn’t really pull me in. Cool as fuck tho.
]]>Boy substance…
]]>Watched on Sunday March 9, 2025.
]]>Bro
]]>Any hole is a goal.
]]>This happened to me once.
]]>Was hungover af watching this today so don’t actually have any genuine opinions other then the visuals, vfx and styling were unreal.
Mostly got super distracted with googling how the Wachowski’s ever got this funded because their only other movie was bound. That just seems wildly financially irresponsible to me but like love ♥️
]]>I’m in two minds about this, I get the impression it’s a very sincere metaphorical examination of male loneliness and repression but at the same time it means this movie is a misogynistic mess.
I want to believe it’s aware of that and that’s ‘the point’ but I think it goes too far in some instances for that alone to really absolve it.
Similar with it taking place in Thailand, at the start it had a very clear direction of criticising exploitative expats but very quickly devolved kill bill style ‘Asian aesthetic cool’ film bro territory.
Same again with the mommy issues. I’m SURE men do feel like this about there mothers but that doesn’t mean I wanna watch an hour and a half of ‘bitch mom the movie’. Particularly when the themes of parental sexual abuse are just peppered in and not explored at all. I don’t need everything spelled out to me, but it often felt like this was only addressed and resolved in a way to add shock value then really offer sympathy to men in physically/emotionally incestuous relationships, even worse I feel like this aspect very much could have just been a metaphor for wider points the movie was trying to make, which just seems in poor taste.
This movie is just sort of dumb and one note, but maybe that’s the point because I do think Ryan Gosling’s character is intentionally sort of dumb and one note and the movie is critical of male repression and possibly just doesn’t execute that very well or at least only delivers it at the consequence of its female characters (which is realistic so again I can’t decide if I can fault this movie for that or not)
I just think a movie depicting male suffering without actually examining why it manifests itself through sex, violence and hating your mother is pretty meh, but I can’t figure out if that’s a deliberate critique or just a flaw in the movie.
Loads of metaphor and imagery and blah blah blah I just don’t think this is a particularly smart or profound film.
But I am not an emotionally repressed man so maybe this just isn’t for me.
Also the violence in this movie was so ??? I this being considered VILE when it came out but maybe that’s just a sign of the times and last some of the dialogue was so fucking corny.
]]>I could watch this movie a billion times. Have now watched it three times with different people. Knockoff dyke maplethorpe still best line in cinema ever.
]]>Bad review not in the way of it actually being bad (it is) but not bad enough to be funny.
]]>This is what dating a 22 year old at 23 is like
On a real such a poignant and tasteful examination of grief I wish I was joking I cried like 4 times lol.
]]>Watched this after watching blade and blade II. Somehow but not at all definitely influenced my viewing experience.
Woody Harrelson is sexy but not sexy enough to make magic seem cool.
]]>This is like analog hinge if they also had guns.
Anya Taylor Joy is giving BODDDDYYY in an otherwise utterly inoffensive film.
]]>Not as good as first in the sense it’s a better crafted movie then the first if that even makes sense.
]]>BLOOD RAVE BLOOD RAVE BLOOD RAVE.
Fucking class.
]]>This is my first sincere negative review.
I was actually shocked this movie has so many good reviews.
The writing was flat, the jokes were not earned and not funny. None of the characters were believable or good caricatures.
Iris being a Robot was so obviously decided to be included in advertising after it was filmed because the first 30 mins are clearly a set up for this reveal which then has no pay off and is incredibly unsettling and weird for no reason.
Sophie Thatchers acting was crazy it was so poor for like 75% of the movie and then randomly really good.
The incel plot line was forced, so predictable. Honestly sort of offensive that it was such a shoe in.
The violence was good but not nearly enough of it not enough of anything such a nothing movie it’s pissing me off.
]]>Ngl I was sort of prepared to not like this movie but it aged extremely well. It’s so male but not masculine at all it’s almost subversive.
I love being sort of drunk for movies at cineworld. Andrew Garfield is so hot.
]]>Crazy how this is the most poignant exploration of autistic girl phone addictism and it was made before those concepts were even in the cultural consciousness!!
In all seriousness this really spoke to me, deals with a lot of concepts about self and relationships I could only dream to so successfully convey. So eery how what is framed as science fiction is pretty much a reality today. I think this allows for a more earnest approach to the topics at hand compared to contemporary work.
I love Lain so much, I’m just like her fr ❤️
Will definitely be rewatching soon (I watched a dub and I can’t tell if it was jarring as a stylistic choice or just bad so want to watch origional with subs)
So fucking goofy, every trope under the sun, super fun.
]]>One of the only cgi anime’s I don’t find appalling ugly, which should always be rewarded.
]]>Okay now I’m just ing all the anime I watched so review dump lol.
]]>Now this is TELEVISION. Was definitely way too young first time I watched this to get anything that was going on but so fucking raw and animal and sad and amazing love love love.
Visuals also delicious I want to eat.
First anime I ever watched. Rewatched ages ago but feel compelled to review anyway.
A testament to how strong the first 2/3 are that they could afford to completely fuck the ending and still get 5 stars.
]]>This still holds up wish I could give it ten million stars. Death note Easter egg was sooo fab and tasteful.
Genuinely so pissed off this isn’t based on anything because it only got one season and I want to dig my greedy little hands into additional material bc the world building is MWAH 😍
]]>Probably mostly just nostalgia but flame emoji
]]>How does one get themselves into this situation…. Asking for a friend.
]]>Knock off dyke maplethorpe is still the best line in cinema history.
Hot fucking mess.
]]>Withstands rewatch surprisingly well. Sort of thought it would be one of those movies I leave the cinema thinking is the best thing ever only to never in my mind again.
]]>Would **** **** just die already
]]>Bro.
]]>Super boring but vaping priest was sort of fab I guess.
]]>This movie consumed me.
Edit/spoilers: Sleeping on it I like this movie more for what it was trying to do then what it actually did. If its perspective on Ellen’s sexuality and shame was more deeply explored instead of spending so much time with Thomas with Count Orlok at the start I think it would have been much scarier.
For something that’s terror is hinged so strongly around sex I felt like it fell back on to ‘big bad scary vampire gonna kill everyone’ a bit too much in the final act. When the final moments of the film are based entirely around its d central themes, I was very dissatisfied that I couldn’t quite tell what this film wanted to say on them.
