What I find most interesting in this film is Treves position he starts contemplating on whether or not he is taking advantage of John. It is a very legit question. The everlasting question about whether ego can be involved in goodness is answered simply by showing: it doesn’t fucking matter, when the material condition of the other has improved and they are feeling better. having watched this film in the context of afrotopia, i am intrigued by this vision of the future… clearly, dystopian tendencies are more prevalent. the utopian hope for water and plants remains outside of the film as a wish, a hope and an unsure reality
