Water travels in the blood and worms fluidize Arrakis. DUNE part 2 feels so real. And that is the biggest compliment one can give it. It shows and doesn't tell, quite a bit and might be the best thing we could hope to happen in big budget, mainstream cinema. It's introducing so many to the dark, unbalanced edge of the Harkonnen. DUNE is sci-fi royalty. It's a fascinating birth of art.
Chalamet is the Kwisatz Haderach (or is he?). Surrounded by the weight of such massive talent, and everyone is on fire here, he maintains the authenticity in every single scene. The immersion is off the charts, even with some dickhead in the theater repeating 'Uh-oh" everytime a bad thing happened. Lisan al-Gaib Blues.
The Feyd-Rautha Gladiator Arena scene was my moment. It was beyond the black rainbow and worth the price of ission alone. Pure Giedi Prime hell planet. Murder minds. I π€ LΓ©a Seydoux as Lady Margot but the MVP in the film is Austin Butler with Rebecca Fergusson at a very close second. It's hard to not mention everyone, here.
Frank Herbert would be proud. It's the most unhollywood blockbuster and such a perfect riff. It moves with a steady handedness. Clear and concise vision from a confident Villeneuve. His changes and omittance are fine by me. His only crime was making us wait 3 years.
